Chrome and Caffeine event extended

Posted

The Board of Public Works and Safety approved several items on the agenda Wednesday during its weekly meeting, including an expansion of the Chrome and Caffeine event that was held at Pike Place in April.

Due to the success of the first event this year, event organizer Randy Caldwell requested that Chrome and Caffeine continue being held each Sunday starting May 18 until Oct. 26. Each Sunday the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. except for June 29, when it will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The board also approved a new agreement with Forman Blasters for the 2025 Independence Day Fireworks Show in Milligan Park for $11,500. There was previously a multi-year agreement in place that ended last year, with the uncertainty of prices Forman Blasters requested a yearly agreement instead.

In other business, the board:

• Approved a request from the street department to declare a 1996 GMC Topkick trash truck as surplus. The resale value is less than $1,000 due to the truck being out of service.

• Approved a work order request from Code Enforcement Officer Barry Lewis for a residential property located at 1415 Durham Drive. The property must be mowed by Monday.

• Reviewed bids for the Community Crossings project from Rieth Riley Construction ($718,181), Baumgartner & Company Asphalt Services ($737,299), Milestone Contractors ($765317), Midwest Paving ($740,369), Grady Brothers Asphalt ($655,020) and Howard Companies ($739,158). The board is taking the bids under advisement.
