CHS band plans mattress fundraiser

Posted

Crawfordsville High School band members will host a fundraiser selling mattresses on Saturday. The event will take place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Crawfordsville High School commons.

Proceeds will go towards helping fund instruments and gear for the Crawfordsville’s middle and high school bands.

A wide variety of mattress brands, such as Purple, Sealy, Tempur-Pedic and more will be available. Prices are comparable, if not cheaper, to store-bought mattresses. Cash or card payment will be accepted. Out-of-state buyers can have mattresses delivered.

This is the second time CHS has held a mattress fundraiser. The first was in 2023 and the band raised more than $4,000. Band director Jon Tebbe hopes to raise $5,000 this year.

Funds will be used to purchase new instruments, like tubas and bass clarinets, as well as new concert band tuxes and dresses for students. Tebbe believes new band attire will help students feel better and play better.

The color guard program is growing, so proceeds also will go towards the purchase of Crawfordsville-colored themed flags and outfits.

Custom Fundraising Solutions is helping coordinate the fundraiser. The company helped the band with its first mattress fundraiser.

Buyers can also refer a student at the time of purchase and that student will receive some credit from the sale. The credit will go into the student’s account and can be used for future projects or trips.
