During a virtual meeting Monday, the Crawfordsville City Council gave its final approval to an ordinance allocating federal coronavirus relief funds for city departments.
Crawfordsville received more than half a million dollars from the CARES Act, which is being spent on building modifications to maximize social distancing and upgrading technology for virtual government meetings.
The fund was also used to pay the city’s lease for the community drive-thru testing site on North Green Street.
The city has until the end of the year to spend the money before the CARES Act expires.
In other business, the council approved an ordinance making an additional appropriation for the Crawfordsville Street Department to make $36,000 in repairs to a trash truck. The money came from the city’s riverboat fund.
The council also passed a resolution establishing the South Industrial Economic Development Area, as part of the process to create a TIF district to capture the revenue from an expansion at the LSC Communications north plant.
The second reading of an ordinance to annex the Crawfordsville Veterinary Clinic property at 1834 S. U.S. 231 was tabled until January’s meeting.
