City of Crawfordsville responds to COVID-19 Pandemic

City officials released the following statement Monday afternoon:

The City of Crawfordsville is closely monitoring the COVID-19 Pandemic and has taken several actions.

• Mayor Todd Barton is meeting with department leaders on a daily basis. These meetings include updates from Montgomery County Health Department, Montgomery County Emergency Management and operational reports from each department.

• Crawfordsville Police and Fire departments have enacted operational changes to reduce the risk of exposure and ensure the health of responders and the community they serve.

• City of Crawfordsville/Montgomery County Emergency Operations Center has been activated and will coordinate local efforts, resources, etc.

• All city departments have prepared plans to ensure continuity of essential operations with reduced staffing due to illness.

• City operations that are not time-sensitive may be temporarily disrupted.

• Sick time policies for city employees are being temporarily adjusted with department leaders being given more operational latitude.

• All out-of-state work related travel by city employees has been suspended.

• The following city facilities will be closed to public access beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, but offices will be staffed and available by phone:

• City Building, 300 E. Pike St.

• Fusion 54, 101 W. Main St.

• Street Department, 107 N. Vermont St.

• Waste Water Department, 515 Bluff St.

• Crawfordsville Parks & Recreation Department, 922 E. South Blvd., has canceled all senior programs effective immediately. Parks & Recreation Community Center will close completely beginning Tuesday, March 17. The offices will remain staffed and available by phone.

• Sunshine Vans will be available for medical trips only.

• City of Crawfordsville Utilities Office will not be accepting payments in person. Payments may be deposited to the city building drop box, over the phone at 1-844-562-1960 or online at www.crawfordsville.net.

• Public meetings of city boards, commissions, etc. will only be held if there is a time-sensitive agenda. These will be reviewed on an individual basis and ample notice will be issued for canceled meetings.

• Mayor Barton’s Community Forum originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 has been canceled. Anyone wishing to speak with the mayor may call his office or email him directly.

• Crawfordsville City Council and Board of Public Works and Safety members are being updated on a regular basis.

• A podcast update is being scheduled for mid-week to provide the latest information.
