City OKs building inspection agreement

Crawfordsville and Montgomery County have formed a policy on building inspections while the city’s inspector goes on leave.

The board of public works and safety approved an agreement Wednesday that would allow county inspectors to assess buildings in Crawfordsville’s jurisdiction during the city inspector’s absence.

In exchange, the city will be able to inspect county buildings whenever the county’s inspector is unavailable.

The city and county will reimburse each other $50 for each inspection.

The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners also signed off on the agreement earlier this week.

In other business, the board:

• Approved an agreement with J&D Tree Surgery to remove a tree at 107 S. Barr St. at a cost not to exceed $1,100.

• Accepted a $9,895 purchase and installation agreement with Hay-Bush Mechanical for a heating and air conditioning system in a classroom at the Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency building.

• Approved a request from code enforcement officer Barry Lewis to remove trash from a property at 6 Center Drive owned by Lisa Clayton.
