Commissioners approve new Free Clinic agreement

A new agreement between the Montgomery County Health Department and the Montgomery County Free Clinic was approved by county commissioners on Monday.

The new agreement provides primary medical care for women. The health department will provide services at the clinic. The new service will be funded by a state grant and is already in the county budget since the grant was awarded at the end of 2024.

In other businesss, commissioners received and took under advisement two bids for the Community Crossroads Grant. A bid from Evergreen Road Work from Terre Haute totaled $1,936,604. A second bid from Pavement Solutions out of Middletown totaled $2,062,207.

The work to be completed is located on Ladoga Road from C.R. 150S to the Ladoga town limits and C.R. 550N to U.S. 231.

Other work to be performed with the grant funds include: C.R. 275W from C.R. 550N to C.R. 500N; C.R. 550N from C.R. 275E to the Darlington town limits; and C.R. 650N from North Old State Road 55 to C.R. 100W. All projects include cape sealing the roads.

Iron Smith Gym received permission to conduct a 5k 8-10 a.m. April 26 along Traction Road. The road will not be closed but organizers request police officers assist with traffic.

The next commissioners meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. April 14.
