Commissioners close to making Constitution Row repairs

Posted

Montgomery C0unty Commissioners took the next step to repair Constitution Row by accepting a bid for street repairs from Milestone Contractors. The bid was in the amount of $131,000.

Before commissioners could accept the bid they agreed to sign a memo of understanding with the City of Crawfordsville which will soon own the roadway that leads to the County Government Center off of C.R. 100W.

As it stands now, Constitution Row is owned by the Houston Family. They are to execute a dedication agreement with the city to make the roadway a public road. Work on the road will proceed as soon as the city and the Houston Family sign the agreement.

Commissioners authorized Drug Free Montgomery County to develop and implement a plan for the use of funds from the Opioid settlement. The DFMC has already developed their plan and presented it to commissioners three weeks ago. The funds will be administered by the county health department. County Administrator Tom Klein told commissioners each incorporated town must also develop a plan for the use of funds the towns will receive. Klein said he and members of DFMC will meet with each town council in December to make an offer to share the DFMC plan which would satisfy the terms of the settlement.

Commissioners approved the re-appointment of Dale Waltz to the Linden Carnegie Public Library Board.

Klein reminded commissioners that Dec. 21 is the official county bicentennial. To mark the birth of the county, local churches will be asked to ring bells and there will be an official anniversary party planned soon.

The next commissioners’ meeting will be 8 a.m. Dec. 12 at the County Government Center.
