Montgomery County Commissioners approved a software upgrade for county offices Monday.
The software is designed to improve reporting and other administrative duties.
Auditor Jennifer Andel presented the contract to commissioners. The county will pay $38,400 for the new software with an annual maintenance fee of $6,780.
“This software is designed to give department heads improvements to what we have now,” Andel said. “Department heads will be able to submit claims in real time and immediately see if they have enough funds in their budgets. Also, there will be (electronic) timecard capability plus we no longer will have to use Excel.”
After a public hearing, commissioners approved the rezoning of parcels of land located in the 600 block of North U.S. 231 from agricultural to residential. The property, which is proposed to be a housing subdivision, is located just north of North Montgomery High School and includes 25.22 acres. Future homeowners will have access into the area from US 231 upon INDOT approval.
Commissioner John Frey thanked Sugar Creek Property Group for initiating the project.
“With all the new jobs we have coming to our county, I want the builders to know we appreciate what they are doing,” Frey said. “We need housing and this will help us meet that need.”
The county highway will have a new way to provide current information on road and bridge closures. The county will have a public access portal. The work to develop the new website will begin immediately.
A task order for part-time inspections on bridges 29, 205 and 207 was approved. United Consulting will do the work with a price tag not to exceed $50,000.
In other business, commissioners:
• Granted to vacate a portion of Lee Street in Linnsburg after a public hearing.
• Approved the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan presented by EMA Director Shari Harrington.
• Reduced the Cumulative Bridge Fund.
• Approved a change order with JS McCollugh Inc for additional soil to be used to cap the landfill.
• Establish a fund for a grant received by the health department to educate residents on lead-based paint.
• Gave permission to Montgomery County Highway Director Jake Lough to advertise for bituminous bids.
• Recognized the resignation of current Harrington the EMA director.
