Southmont’s Byrum steps down

Southmont head basketball coach Michael Byrum has announced his resignation. Bryum said he wants to spend more time with his family.

Byrum’s Mountie teams recorded a 24-21 record in two seasons. This year’s team finished 15-8.

On social media Byrum showed his appreciation for Southmont.

“I would like to thank the South Montgomery Community School Corporation, my coaching staff and our players for all of their support over the last two years for helping make the last two years so enjoyable.”

Chargers hire varsity coaches for fall

North Montgomery Athletic Director Matt Merica announced the hiring of two fall head coaches, effective immediately.

Bobby Cunningham will be the new head coach of the boys’ soccer team. Cunningham has been coaching at the North Montgomery Middle School.

Chris Cash will be the new head tennis coach. Cash is a Crawfordsville High School graduate and played tennis at the collegiate level.

North Montgomery elementary teacher Jordan Foust has been named the new varsity volleyball coach. Foust has been Western Boone’s volleyball junior varsity coach the past three seasons.
