Advance tickets on sale; volunteers sought for Aug. 28 event

The idea that began 15 years ago as a fun summertime fundraiser for the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum has evolved into the county’s largest picnic and one of the area’s most successful summer festivals.

The 14th annual Taste of Montgomery County is returning to the grounds of the museum from noon to 10 p.m. Aug. 28. Museum staff and a small army of volunteers are preparing for the most successful outing ever.

Some of Montgomery County’s finest restaurants, caterers and food vendors will be serving up their most delectable delicacies. Accompanying the delicious food available at the Taste will be fabulous live music from local and regional acts, representing the quality and variety that Taste-goers have always enjoyed. From 1 to 3 p.m., Highland Reign will perform Scots American folk rock. Local favorite War Radio will take the stage from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Strawbury Jam headlines from 8 to 10 p.m. with modern country rock.

Advance tickets are $2 for students and $5 for adults. Tickets at the gate on the day of the Taste will be $3 for student tickets and $7 for adults. Advance ticket holders will also be able to get into the gate faster on the day of the Taste, as they won’t have to wait in line to purchase tickets.

Volunteer opportunities are still available for this year’s TASTE. Volunteers receive free entry to the TASTE and their choice of a TASTE T-shirt or four food tickets. Those interested in volunteering should visit http://www.tasteofmontgomerycounty.com/volunteers/ to sign up online.

The Taste would not be possible without our generous sponsors. Every year the Taste Committee and the Lew Wallace Study Preservation Society Board and staff are amazed by the local businesses and individuals who contribute to this event and we sincerely thank them for their support.

The Lew Wallace Study would like to thank Title Sponsors of this year’s event: the Montgomery County Tourism Commission, First Merchants Bank Foundation, Hoosier Heartland State Bank, Dr. Howard Miller, Market Street Wealth Management, Teachers Credit Union, The Paper of Montgomery County and Tri-County Bank and Trust.
