County seeks road paving grant

Posted

Montgomery County is seeking another round of state money to pave more roads.

The county has applied for funding through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program for the planned projects, said county administrator Tom Klein. The program provides funding to cities, towns and counties for road and bridge improvements.

Roads on the list include C.R. 400W from State Road 32 to U.S. 136, Camp Rotary Road from State Road 32 to Keller Road and C.R. 300S from Keller Road to State Road 47.

The roads were selected because they connect state highways and have low pavement condition ratings, Klein said.

Total estimated costs for the seven miles of paving is $1.2 million. The county would chip in an estimated $290,000.

Selected communities will be announced in February.

The program has funded other recent projects, including the planned bridge replacement on C.R. 100W.

Indiana has awarded $739 million in state funds for local road and bridge projects throughout the state.
