Rotary Club speaker this week was Roger Azar, who is the local club president.

He just returned from a visit to see his mother in Beirut, Lebanon. He talked about the different factions of the population across the country and their various beliefs. He talked about the revolution from 1975 to 1990 and the problems that have been created since then.

Some were the value of a $100,000 pound note one year ago was worth $65 US dollars and is now worth $5. The citizens cannot with draw more than $300 pounds a month for income. There is no gas so they have to walk to work. There is also shortage of food and medicines.

He also gave some great highlights of pictures of scenery and the repair of his mother’s roof along with the, social side of his mother’s life with friends, family and food.

At today’s meeting we had students in attendance from all three high schools which a project our Rotary club has done for many years. This is the first time in two years that we have been able to have students attend our club meeting and we all were thrilled to see them.

The next Rotary event coming up is the Summer Concert Series at Pike Place 6-11 p.m. Friday, with the Doug Henthorn and the LLC band as the main liner. This is free event.
