Dusk to Dawn

Creating keepsakes helps guide the grieving

Posted

As we celebrate 10 years of nonprofit service to our community, Dusk to Dawn Bereavement Services is offering a series of interactive small group experiences. In each of these groups, participants have the opportunity to explore a variety of modalities to foster healing.

In February we found our voices through the healing power of writing. Through March and April we discovered how movement and mindfulness relieves stress to help process grief and loss that we store in our bodies.

This May, we will investigate the therapeutic benefits that come through a blend of artistic expression of feelings, creativity and precious memories. This three-part series will be held on Thursday evenings 6-8 p.m. May 18-June 1 at Athens Art Gallery, 216 E. Main St. Local artists Kenya Ferand-Ott and Ellie Deickmeyer will guide learners in the creation of a painting and a multimedia keepsake of treasured mementos. This group experience will be limited to eight participants. To register for this unique hands-on learning experience, visit www.dusk-to-dawn.org.
