CROSS COUNTRY: Allen, Hutchison lead area runners at FC Grand Prix

VEEDERSBURG — Area cross country teams competed in the highly-competitive Fountain Central Grand Prix on Saturday morning.

State caliber runners Paul and Wil Stamm of Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter paced the boys’ race with first and second place finishes in 15:21 and 15:33 respectively, while Seeger’s Jennifer Romero led the Patriots’ girls squad to a team title with a winning performance in a time of 19:03. Southmont’s Faith Allen placed third in a time of 19:47.

West Lafayette won the boys team title with a score of 68. Crawfordsville was 8th with 185 and Fountain Central 10th with 275. Crawfordsville’s girls placed 6th with 144.

Crawfordsville’s Shelby Green placed 24th in 22:56, while Halle Smith was 27th in 23:06, and Elyse Widmer 32nd in 23:23. Skylah Strawser placed 35th in 23:35, and Olivia Biddle was 36th in 23:36. Gabby Warren placed 52nd in 25:21, and Olivia Fichter 71st in 31:04.

Claire Bonwell placed 55th with a time of 25:48, while Lydia LaChance was 69th in 30:34 and Hannah Littell 70th in 30:43. Southmont’s Rachel Rhoads was 56th in 26:08 and Grace Simpson 72nd in 31:51.

Kenna Bible led Fountain Central with a 50th place finish in 25:16, while Tyler Bowling was 53rd in 25:24 and Courtney Sims 59th in 26:43.

Crawfordsville’s Hunter Hutchison placed the area in the boys’ race with a 13th place finish in 17:33, while Ryan Miller was 23rd in 18:032. Ian Hensley placed 44th in 19:19, Arthur Ruano 56th in 20:41, and Peter Kearns 57th in 20:47.

North Montgomery’s Elijah McCartney was 25th in 18:08 and Kylin White 87th in 25:27.

Fountain Central was led by Carson Pietrzak’s 38th place finish in 18:50, while Daniel Adams placed 50th in 19:50, and Justin Butts 58th in 20:51. Ethan Mellady was 70th in 22:32 and Matthew York 85th in 25:18.

Southmont’s Aaron Evans placed 46th in 19:28 and Mason Cass 47th in 19:32. Brett Keller was 63rd in 21:54 and Toby Casteel 89th in 29:33.
