OBERLIN, Ohio — Another record-setting performance for Brayden Curnutt helped the Wabash senior earn the 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Distance Athlete of the Year Award at the annual Indoor Track and Field Championships completed Saturday at Oberlin College. The Little Giants finished in second place out of nine teams competing at the meet.
Curnutt won the 3,000-meter run on Saturday, breaking the old conference mark of 8:26.60 set in 2016. Curnutt completed the race in 8:24.79 to post a new conference record. He won the 5,000-meter run on Friday to help earn the Men’s Distance Athlete of the Year award.
Senior Will Neubauer won the 800-meter run on Saturday with a time of 1:54.05. Haiden-Diemer-McKinney joined Neubauer as an all-conference honoree with a second-place finish at 1:54.78. David Adesanya finished in 1:57.10 to capture fifth place.
The Wabash foursome of Diemer-McKinney, Adesanya, Owen Smith, and Neubauer combined to earn all-conference honors with a second-place finish in the 4X400-meter relay. The quartet finished in 3:24.90. Smith, Tanner Brooks, Morgyn Clark, and Christopher Royal earned a fifth-place finish in the 4X200-meter relay by posting a time of 1:33.34. Brooks added an eighth-place finish in the 60-meter dash finals by crossing the line in 7.21 in the finals.
Sly Williams finished second in the triple jump to pick up all-conference honors with a career-best leap of 14.03 meters (46 feet, 0.50 inches). Kannon Chase earned all-conference honors with a third-place finish in the high jump by clearing 1.90 meters (6 feet, 2.75 inches).
Quinn Sholar added another all-conference award to his resume with a third-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 15.44 meters (50 feet, 8 inches). Jake Oostman added a seventh-place finish with a throw of 13.42 inches (44 feet, 0.50 inches).
Wabash scored 120 points to finish second behind men’s conference champion Wittenberg with 139.5 points. Denison took third place with 99 points, followed by DePauw (89.5 points), Oberlin (82 points), Ohio Wesleyan (68 points), Wooster (48.5 points), Kenyon (36 points), and Hiram (15.5 points).
