Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Wiatt, 62, of Russellville passed away at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born Dec. 12, 1957, at Crawfordsville, to James C. Mitchell and Carolyne (Hughes) Smith. On July 23, 1983, at Woodland Heights Christian Church, Crawfordsville, she married Darrell Wiatt. He survives.

Cindy was a bicentennial graduate from Crawfordsville High School, graduating with the Class of 1976. She then earned her bachelor’s degree from Milligan College. She began her working career working for Tri-County Telephone in New Richmond, and then for Metal Forming Industries in Russellville, where she recently retired after 30 years of service. She loved many things and among them were musicals, traveling, playing euchre, spending time at the beach, Hallmark movies, going to all of her children’s sporting events and cooking, where she was known by her family as “the best cook.” She also was affectionately called the “best Mom and MiMi.”

Cindy was a member of Russellville Community Church, where she served as a deacon and Bible School director. She also was an active member of Sugar Creek Square Dance Club and the Putnam County 4-H Counsel Board.

She is survived by her husband Darrell Wiatt; children, Darren (Renee) Wiatt, Darrick (Lauren) Wiatt, Bethany (Grant) Bryan and Benjamin (Kayla) Wiatt; four grandchildren, Beau, Mitchell, Lukas and Ivyl; her parents, James Mitchell and Carolyne Smith; sister Laura (Robert) Eckart; brother J. Christopher Mitchell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Waveland, with Pastor Phil Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 at the funeral home. Due to the current pandemic conditions, masks are encouraged and social distancing will be required.

Memorials may be made in Cindy’s memory to the Russellville Community Center, and/or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
