Dale Lynn Cox, 86, of Lafayette passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at his residence, with family by his side.
He was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Anderson, to the late Lawrence E. and Dorothy (Weliever) Cox. He was a 1956 graduate of Darlington High School and a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1955 to 1959. On July 27, 1958, he married the love of his life, Carolee (Dickson), in Alameda, California. Dale worked as a sales manager for Herman Davis Chevrolet, Crawfordsville, and for 20 years at Defouw Chevrolet as the used car sales manager before opening his business, Dale’s Southside Liquors. He enjoyed many travels as a bus driver and tour guide for Imperial Travel as well as driving routes for Lafayette School Corporation before full retirement.
Dale served as Scout Master for Den #342 in Crawfordsville from 1961-1965. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Navy Club, the Free and Accepted Masons New Richmond Lodge No. 604 and served as a Past Master of Darlington Lodge No.186. He was also a member of the Crawfordsville York Rite. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and riding his motorcycles with friends and family where he was commonly known as the “Trail Master.”As a sports fan, he enjoyed watching Raiders football and following NASCAR.
Along with his wife Carolee, he is survived by four children, Larry (Denise) Cox of Lafayette, Greg (Sheryl) Cox of Wilmington, Ohio, Carla (Timothy) Sunderland of Corydon, and Patrick (Leigh) Cox of Warsaw; nine grandchildren, Joshua (Brandy) Cox, Keith (Hannah) Cox, Mitchel (Hanna) Cox, Michael (Harley) Cox, Jeremey (Amanda) Cox, Lauren Spencer, Danielle (Blake) Bradford, Andrew Cox and Madelyn Cox; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marylin (Cox) High of Crawfordsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Dorothy Cox; sister Linda Kay Nelson; and an infant brother.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8 at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 with visitation one hour prior, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, with Pastor Daniel Eggold officiating. Military honors by American Legion Post #11of Lafayette.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington.
