Delivering Kindness

ASI shares flower bouquets with community

Bouquet donations from Abilities Services Inc. have been making their rounds around Montgomery County.

ASI has been delivering flowers for about three years now to those who may need some cheer.

“We got the idea from ‘Random Acts of Flowers’ who deliver bouquet of flowers on a much larger scale,” said Michelle Smith, ASI executive director. “We deliver a lot of our bouquets to nursing homes, hospitals, police stations and more.”

Kroger is one of the companies that donates their flowers to ASI.

“Any donation of flowers can be sent to our facility,” Smith said. “Once we get enough individual flowers, we make a bouquet and attach a card to it and send it off.”

Each month, roughly 25 to 30 bouquets are sent out to businesses and non profit organizations around Montgomery County to try and brighten someones day.

“It’s the little things. You never know what kind of impact you could have on someone by doing a small act of kindness,” she said.

This year alone, ASI has delivered nearly 250 bouquets to places around Montgomery County.

“The biggest impact that has stuck with me or those who deliver the flower arrangements would have to be the excitement that we see on residents faces and how they remember each one and call them by name when we are delivering,” Smith said. “It really has become an extension of our ASI family.”

Any donation can be delivered at ASI at 1237 Concord Road, Crawfordsville.
