Denise K. Lighty Dyson, 62, of Crawfordsville passed away at 4:41 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at Ben Hur Nursing Home, Crawfordsville. She had been battling cancer the past year.

She was born April 17, 1957, at Crawfordsville, daughter of the late Marion and Barbara Linker Lighty. She married Darrell Dyson on July 5, 1975, in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Crawfordsville. He survives.

Denise was a 1975 graduate of Fountain Central High School.  She retired after 26 years of service with Heritage Products in Crawfordsville. Denise had a strong love of her family and rarely missed any activities of her children or grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and involved with Bernie’s Buffet. Denise enjoyed gardening, genealogy and belonged to a card club.

Denise was raised in Hillsboro and that is where she found her faith. She held the Hillsboro United Methodist Church very near and dear to her heart and a large part of her spiritual journey.

Surviving, along with her husband Darrell, are daughters, Amanda “Mandi” (Tim) Gerdes of Crawfordsville and Missi (Brandon) Lee of Coatsville; son Curt (Dana) Dyson of Darlington; 14 grandchildren, Taylor, Gage, Marley, Gavin, Ross, Lily, Maci, Isabel, Mayla, Cooper, Mavery, Brogan (deceased) and twins Magnolia and Mosley; and brothers, Barry (Brenda) Lighty of Crawfordsville and Greg (Marlene) Lighty of Veedersburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Brogan Lee.

Visitation hours are 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Rite of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Crawfordsville, with Father Chris Shocklee officiating. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
