Dennis Ray “Hoppie” Hopkins, 77, of rural Waynetown passed away unexpectedly in his home Monday evening, Nov. 9, 2020.

He was born Jan. 29, 1943, at Crawfordsville, son of the late James and Delores Higbee Hopkins. He married Donna Pendleton on Sept. 21, 1996. She survives.

Denny was a 1961 graduate of Richland Township High School in Newtown. He was employed 32 years with RR Donnelley, where he retired as a “saddle-stitch” operator. Following retirement he was a faithful semi driver for the Duncan Family at Able Acres.

He was a devoted, quiet, hard-working man. His grandchildren were the loves of his life! Denny enjoyed mowing his lawn and driving the semi.

Surviving, along with his wife Donna, are four daughters, Tiffany Doyle of West Hills, California, Danielle Roche and Lillyanne Hopkins, both of Waynetown, and Katrina Perry of Florida; son Anthony Hopkins of Texas; grandchildren, Emma Roche, Saydee Case, Lauren Hopkins, Beau Hopkins, Kayla Hopkins, Jordan and Madison Banta, Haley Burton and Tyler Goodin; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kathy Perigo and Judith Frazier; and brother Mickie Hopkins.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, with funeral services immediately following at 7 p.m. at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Pastor Mark Roberts will officiate. Private family interment will be at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Please follow the recommendations of the Indiana State Board of Health in regard to COVID-19.
