Donald E. “Don” Lovold, 72, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

Born Sept. 23, 1948, at Minneapolis, Minnesota, he was the son of Donald V. and Arlene (Olson) Lovold. They moved to Crawfordsville when Don was 11.

Don graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1966. He attended DePauw University where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Don was the president/owner of Thrifty Supply, which was founded by his parents and continued to be a family owned business after their retirement.

Don was a caring husband and a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed golf, reading, boating, sports, travel and spending time with his friends and family. He had a dry sense of humor and often liked to give people a hard time. Most who knew him would say he had a kind and generous heart underneath his reserved demeanor.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Anne (Sheldon); daughter Lea (husband Ryan Falconi); son Lucas (wife Jenny); two grandchildren, Joss (5) and Levon (3); sister Debbie; and brother Doug and sister-in-law Brenda.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother David.

Don will be dearly missed. Services will be private.
