Dorothy Grimes passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Wellbrooke. She was 90.
Dorothy Grimes was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, to Clell and Jessie (Chasteen) Norton. Dorothy married David Grimes on June 20, 1954. They celebrated 67 years of marriage. He preceded her in death Oct. 30, 2021.
Dorothy was a 1952 graduate of Bowers High School in Montgomery County, Indiana. She lived in Waveland for many years before moving to Crawfordsville, where she worked at Ben Hur Life Insurance Company, retiring after 32 years. Dorothy loved playing golf in the ladies’ group at the Crawfordsville Country Club. She enjoyed representing the Crawfordsville Country Club in various tournaments.
Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crawfordsville and the Crawfordsville Country Club.
Dorothy is survived by nieces, Pam Shelby, Kelly Buck, Deborah Seward and Lyn Mitchell Taylor; nephews, Eric Yazel, Brad Norton, Jim Grimes, Randall Grimes and Kevin Mitchell; sister-in-law Kay Norton; special friend, Sam Goff; plus many great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Keith, Coleman and Glen Norton and one sister, Lorene Yazel.
Visitation at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, will be Friday, March 14 starting at 1 p.m. until the service begins at 2:30 p.m. After the service, she will be laid to rest at the Russellville Cemetery.
