Dr. Ronald “Doc” C. Chaplain, 86, of Russellville passed away Sunday morning, May 24, 2020, at Waveland.

He was born Nov. 9, 1933, at Rockville, to the late Leo and Maude (Owen) Chaplain.

Doc graduated from Bloomingdale High School and went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Army. Once returning home he attended Kansas State, where he studied and became a veterinarian. He had his own veterinarian practice for 26 years until retiring and working for the State Health Department for 10 years. He married the love of his life, Norma (Hoffman) Chaplain and enjoyed many happy years together with her until she passed in 2013.

Doc enjoyed fishing at his cabin on the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, flying his airplane, entertaining his friends and his beloved dog, Casey.

He is survived by his children, Rhonda (Stanley E.) McBride, Vickie (Ronald W.) Carr and Russell (Jami) Chaplain; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Lou Deplanty and Jerry Chaplain; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Robert Chaplain.

Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 27 at Russellville Cemetery, 12001 N. C.R. 650W, Russellville, with Pastor Kathy Elliott officiating. Machledt & Servies Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
