TERRE HAUTE — Thrive West Central “Thrive” has prepared a draft Regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, a federally required economic strategy for Clay, Montgomery, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties. This plan was developed with local leaders and economic development professionals.

The draft plan is now available for review and public comments. The plan can be found on Thrive’s website at thrivewestcentral.com/ceds/ or at Thrive’s Office at 2800 Poplar St., Suite 9A, Terre Haute, 47803. The comment period ends Oct. 31. Thrive will respond to all comments received. The plan will be submitted to Thrive’s Board for approval at 6 p.m. Nov. 7.

The CEDS is a strategy-driven plan for regional economic development. It provides an opportunity for local leaders, organizations, institutes of learning and private industries to engage in a meaningful conversation about what capacity-building efforts would best serve economic development in the region. The CEDS provides a summary background of the economic conditions in the region, an analysis of regional strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, a vision, goals, and action plan, and an evaluation framework to measure the implementation and impact on the regional economy.

“The CEDS lays the groundwork for where we want to see our region grow over the next five years,” said Thrive Executive Director Ryan Keller. “It will promote strategic conversations about economic development in our region, as well as encourage meaningful collaboration between institutions to work toward a more prosperous West Central Indiana.”

Public comments will be accepted via Thrive’s website at thrivewestcentral.com/ceds/ or can be mailed to Thrive at the following address: Attn: Kristine Krueger, 2800 Poplar Street, Suite 9A, Terre Haute IN 47803.
