Dusk to Dawn offers many upcoming events

Posted

Ahh, February ... The month we think about love as we celebrate Valentine’s Day. It may also be a month to reflect on those we have loved who are no longer with us. What do we do with all that love, loss and grief?

Many counselors and therapists recommend journaling. In January, Dusk to Dawn hosted Gwynn Wills who led our Lunch and Learn on prompted writing. Now Wills has agreed to begin a six-week writing class, beginning Thursday, entitled “Drawing from the Well.” Participants will explore the benefits of writing to deal with loss and trauma.

Another local author, Kelly O’Dell Stanley, will be sharing her talents at our February Lunch and Learn from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 8. The topic is gratitude, and how do pain, trauma, grief and loss co-exist with joy, happiness, hope and gratitude?

Additionally, our latest book/support group began Jan. 22 in Greencastle and will start in Crawfordsville on March 1. Heather Stang’s book, “Mindfulness and Grief,” will help participants learn to come into stillness while navigating the challenges imposed by grief.

Once the short month of February is over, Dusk to Dawn will officially be celebrating serving Montgomery County residents for 10 years. In addition to our monthly learning sessions on the second Wednesday of most months, there will be four special celebrations this year. The first is a gala dinner 5-8 p.m. March 18 at the Crawfordsville Country Club. In addition to a delicious meal and time to meet and converse, attendees will be entertained by Gail and Jacob Merriman performing “Who’s Your Favorite Hoosier.”
