COVINGTON — A former Southeast Fountain School Corp. bus mechanic has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for sex crimes against a child.

David W. Eades, 46, Crawfordsville, was convicted in Fountain Circuit Court on five counts of child molesting, two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and five counts of incest.

Judge Stephanie Campbell suspended five years of the sentence and ordered Eades to serve five years probation. He will receive credit for time served prior to sentencing as well as good time credit as a felon convicted of molesting a child less than 12 years old.

Eades has appealed the sentence and requested a public defender, which was appointed to the case. He is currently serving 11 years in prison from a related case in Warren County. The sentences will be served at the same time.

The crimes occurred the course of 12 years and some of the encounters happened at the Southeast Fountain bus garage, according to court documents. Eades, who had no previous criminal history, was terminated from the district in September 2019 following his arrest.
