Eddie Lee Wilson, 77, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020, at his home in Wingate.

Ed was born Sept. 9, 1942, at Crawfordsville, to Edgar and Janet (Murdock) Wilson. He attended Crawfordsville schools, graduating in 1960. After graduation he attended Ball State University for one year then accepted an apprenticeship as a machinist at RR Donnelly & Sons in 1961. Ed retired after 42 years in 2004. He married Judy (McKeown) Tulley and raised two children. He then married Linda Alpher. She preceded him in death. On Feb. 6, 2004, he married Gemma Clark. She survives.

Ed was a member of the Eagles, Optimist Club (past president) and Sons of the American Legion Post 72, where he proudly served on the Military Honor Guard. He was an avid Indy Car and NASCAR race fan, traveling to and camping at many race venues over the years. He also attended 51 annual Madison boat races and was a very devoted Chicago Cubs fan. Ed was an adventurous man and loved traveling. One of his most impactful memories was of his five-week, solo, motorcycle trip to Alaska. He often spoke fondly of his travels. Additionally, his interests included a passion for all things mechanical and farming. He loved spending time with his family.

Ed is survived by his wife; son Craig (Donna) Wilson of Rockville; daughter Shelle (Randy) Wheeler of Crawfordsville; Gemma’s daughters, J.J.(Chris) Payton and Dena (Ryan) Talbot; brother Gary (Pat) Wilson of Bloomington; and sister Janelle Turner (Don Wilkinson) of New Ross. Additionally, he is survived by grandchildren, Hollie (Richard) Yarger, Missy (Josh) Kikta, Carter (Laura) Wilson, Ali (Nate) Hickman, Hannah Wheeler, Aaron (Lauren) Wheeler, Emily (Casey) Walls, Ben Payton and Hayden, Lauren and Ellison Talbot and great-grandchildren, Nolan, Paige, Eli, Mikko, Zeke and Heikki.

He was preceded in death by parents Edgar and Janet; and brother Bryan.

A social celebration of life will be held
5-7 p.m. July 25 at the American Legion Post 72. His wish was to be cremated and his ashes will be placed at a later date.
