Edith Walden Bennett of Crawfordsville passed away Friday afternoon, April 3, 2020, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. She was 79.
Edith was a long-time member of the Fremont Street Baptist Church. She was a cosmetologist and later worked at Coast to Coast. Her favorite hobby was to go shopping.
Born Nov. 1, 1940, at Empire, Alabama, she was the daughter of Alfred Dockins and Georgia A. Roberts Dockins. She attended school at Covington. She married James “Jim” Walden in 1959 and he passed away in 1989. She later married Jack W. Bennett and he passed away in 2009.
Surviving family includes: brother Gary (Katy) Dockins of Crawfordsville; sister Betty Smith of Darlington; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brother Eugene “Sonny” Dockins and four sisters, Nela Pridmore, Evelyn Jones, Mary Hunt and Linda Dockins.
No public services will be held at this time. A private burial will be held at Rockfield Cemetery, near Veedersburg. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
The family requests donations in her memory to be directed to the Fremont Street Baptist Church, 1908 Fremont St., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
