Elizabeth “Betty” Barclay of Crawfordsville passed away Monday night at Wellbrooke at the age of 95.
Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Crawfordsville from an early age. She and her husband, Harold, transferred to East Side Baptist in the 80s and remained active members there as long as their health would allow. She worked in the office at RR Donnelley and Ben-Hur Life, later she worked at the Holiday Inn and after that, she volunteered at Sugar Creek School. She was very involved in the activities of her sons and her biggest accomplishment was raising five boys.
Born Feb. 4, 1929, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Owen Kincaid and Minnie Sering Kincaid. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1946. She married Harold M. Barclay on May 21, 1948, He passed away Sept. 17, 2020.
Surviving family includes: four sons, Ken Barclay (Kim), Neil Barclay (Becky), Mark Barclay, (Dorothy) and Lewis Barclay (Lisa); 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren with another one due any day; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 72 years, Harold M. Barclay; son Ed Barclay; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 1905 Lebanon Road, Crawfordsville, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, led by Pastor Steve Whicker. After the service, she will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery South.
