CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Junior Caleb Everson was mowing people down on Thursday, punching out eight Wittenberg hitters over 6.1 innings of work, but it was not enough as second-seeded Wabash fell to the third-seeded Tigers 14-2 in game two of the 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament.
In addition to is eight strikeouts, Everson threw 6.1 innings, giving up two runs, both earned, on six hits and walking one for Wabash (27-14).
Trailing 1-0, the Little Giants first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Wabash got an RBI single from junior Will McKinzie, scoring sophomore Bradley Gilliam from second base.
The Tigers (29-10) broke the tie and re-took the lead heading into the seventh inning when the Little Giants got back on the scoreboard. Sophomore Caleb Ellspermann came across to score the lone run of the inning for Wabash to even the score at 2-2. Wittenberg scored 12 times over the remaining two innings to break the tie and grab the 14-2 win.
Wabash faces the College of Wooster in Friday’s first game of the loser’s bracket at 1:30 p.m. at V.A. Memorial Stadium. The Fighting Scots lost 6-5 in 12 innings to third-ranked Denison in the tournament’s first game.
