The Crawfordsville Police Departmenthas a rich history dating all the way back to the 1940s and works continuously to keep the City of Crawfordsville a safe place to live, work and play.

Becoming a member of the Crawfordsville Police Department is a rewarding yet challenging job that brings new experiences and interactions every day with members of the community. This year, the department is working hard to find qualified and capable individuals to join their ranks and create exemplary careers for themselves.

At CPD, you will get the opportunity to be a part of a family of officers with the freedom to shape your own career. You will join an excellent department of highly-trained, skilled and motivated community leaders who pride themselves on their ability to problem-solve, think critically and successfully interact with a wide spectrum of individuals and help them realize tangible solutions.

The list of opportunities with the CPD includes something for everyone. You can receive on-the-job training and advance your career through the promotion process, receive access to exceptional benefits including a pension, and a competitive salary all while making tangible connections with individuals in our community. There are opportunities in SWAT, K9, field training, investigations and so much more that officers have the opportunity to get involved in.

All qualified individuals must complete a physical agility test, written test, background and polygraph examination, a physical and psychological evaluation, and complete the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy basic training course within one year of their hire date to be sworn in as a CPD officer.

We realize being a police officer is not for everyone. However, for those who do feel called to the profession, it is a rewarding and challenging job full of excitement and new adventures every day. Crawfordsville is a unique city and on the verge of exceptional growth. We consider serving its people a privilege and honor.
