Fall and winter sectional assignments announced

Posted

Last month, the IHSAA Executive Committee voted to freeze member school enrollment figures from the current classification cycle for one additional year (2021-22) after this year’s school enrollments showed significant fluctuation likely affected by the pandemic which raised questions about their true representation.

As a result, all schools will remain in the same respective current classifications in each sport for one more year with the exception of those who meet the Tournament Success Factor criteria to move up, down or remain in a

higher class.

The success factor has altered some local football sectionals.

Western Boone moves up to Class 3A after a third-straight state title in Class 2A and will replace Indianapolis Chatard, who moves up to Class 4A in the local sectional.

Class 3A No. 28 includes Brebeuf Jesuit, Crawfordsville, Guerin Catholic, Hamilton Heights, North Montgomery, West Lafayette, and Western Boone.

Lafayette Central Catholic bumps up from Class A to Class 2A and replaces Western Boone in Sectional No. 37 with Cascade, Monrovia, North Putnam, Seeger, South Vermillion, Southmont, and Speedway.

Fountain Central will play in Class A Sectional No. 45 with Attica, Cloverdale, Covington, North Vermillion, Parke Heritage, Riverton Parke, and South Putnam.

The Class 3A Sectional No. 25 basketball sectionals both boys and girls stays the same with Crawfordsville, Danville, Frankfort, Greencastle, Monrovia, North Montgomery, and Tri-West.

As does Class 2A No. 43 in boys’ basketball with Parke Heritage, Riverton Parke, Cloverdale, North Putnam, Cascade, South Putnam, and Southmont. The girls sectional is No. 44, which features Cloverdale, North Putnam, Parke Heritage, Riverton Parke, South Putnam, and Southmont.

Local volleyball and boys and girls soccer sectional assignments are set to remain unchanged.
