JAMESTOWN — A multi-vehicle crash Friday morning on Interstate 74 in Boone County has claimed the life of an Iowa woman and two of her children, ages 2 and 6.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the crash near the 51.5 mile-marker was reported at approximately 6:37 a.m. Upon arrival, first responders located a Kia passenger car and a pickup truck in the ditch on the west side of the roadway, as well as a semi-truck with damage to the rear of its trailer in the eastbound lanes of I-74.

The driver of the Kia, Ashley Morgan, 27, of Waterloo, Iowa was pronounced deceased at the scene, along with her two children, ages 2 and 6. Another child, age 8, was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The driver of the pickup truck, Bo Redrowicz, 33, and passenger, Caleb Morey, were also transported to the hospital with injuries. The driver of the semi-truck, Steven Pearson, 50, of Illinois was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Preliminary findings suggest that Kia was traveling eastbound on I-74 when it collided with the rear of the semi-truck. The impact caused the Kia to cross the median and collide head-on with the pickup truck.

The Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was called to the scene to investigate.

The Boone County Coroner’s Office is conducting the death investigations for this incident. A board certified forensic pathologist is scheduled to conduct the autopsies on Monday. The Coroner’s Office is in communication with the decedents family at this time.
