WAYNETOWN — The Waynetown Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 3800 block of North C.R. 625W early Sunday morning.
Firefighters arrived at 2:20 a.m. to find the south side of the two-story home fully engulfed, Waynetown Fire Chief Phil Pirtle said. Homeowner Laine Frazee escaped safely and rescued the family’s pets before the building’s second floor collapsed.
Sixteen firefighters from Waynetown and Coal Creek Fire Department worked to extinguish the fire, finally clearing the scene at 7 a.m. One firefighter suffered minor injuries and received medical attention.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
