The Flower Lovers Club held its May meeting with a brunch at St. John’s Church on May 4. President Karen Cook opened the meeting with a prayer. Member Trish Scwabe catered the delicious brunch meal. The tables were decorated with many colorful flowers, which were later taken to Hickory Creek for residents to enjoy. Hostesses were Nancy Bowes, Ruby Burkhart, Jan Horner and Diane Lowe.

Thirty-four members attended the meeting. Roll call was answered by naming your favorite variety of cake. Chocolate was by far the favorite response. The club is happy to have Beth Lowe and Janet Linton as new members. Carolyn Fisher was recognized for her May birthday.

Meribeth Kussmaul said the downtown pots will be planted on May 15. Denise Ducharme talked about the 2023 Garden Walk. There was discussion about adding some vegetable gardens and perhaps a tree tour at Lane Place to add variety to the event. Jan Hook said a group had mulched flower beds at the Lane Place.

The coin jar was passed around for donations. Several members shared good news about their family members.

The next meeting will be at 11 a.m. June 1 at Milligan Park. Members are reminded to bring a chair and plants to be auctioned. Members are encouraged to invite a friend.
