Forest Wilson, 87,  of rural New Richmond/Wingate passed away at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, in Bee Hive Memory Care, Lafayette. 

He was born Feb. 9, 1934, at Attica, to the late Wiley and Lola Miller Wilson. He married Carolyn Lane. She preceded him in death in 1979.

Forest was orphaned as a young boy and raised by Fred and Vera Parman in rural New Richmond. Forest was a 1953 graduate of Wingate High School and was a grain and livestock farmer. He operated his farm until he was 85.

He was an active member of the former Wingate Masonic Lodge and a member of New Hope Chapel of Wingate.

Surviving Forest are his longtime companion of 37 years, Sue Woolwine of Wingate; son Steve (Jacie) Wilson of rural New Richmond; daughter Linda (Rex) Ballard of rural Waynetown; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ballard of Waynetown, Erica (Jonathan) Winn of Westfield, Emily (Clayton) Horn of Waynetown, Tyler (Katie) Wilson of New Richmond and Tanner Wilson of New Richmond; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jacob and Madelyn Horn, Robyn and Alexander Winn and Thomas and Tucker Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Carolyn.

Visitation hours are noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, with funeral service following at 2 p.m., with Steve Wilson officiating at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wingate. Follow the recommendations of the Indiana State Board of Health and please wear a mask.
