Frank Harry Eskesen, the surviving son of Frank Eskesen Sr. and Nellie Fullenwider Eskesen, passed away Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief hospitalization for a heart related illness.

He is survived by four first cousins, Mark and David Dodson of Portland, Oregon, H. James McLendon Jr. of Corvallis, Oregon, and Rodney Fullenwider of Crawfordsville.

Frank, a 1965 graduate of Crawfordsville High School, graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois in 1969. He enlisted in the Air Force upon graduation and served with distinction until 1974. Upon his discharge, he returned to Olivet where he earned a master’s degree in counseling psychology.

Frank was employed as a psychiatric assistant at Kankakee State Hospital before returning to his family home in Crawfordsville. He and his parents, who pre-deceased him in 2001 and 2014 respectively, occupied the Fullenwider residence near Wabash College. The family home was purchased by his grandfather, J. Newton Fullenwider, in 1919, following the family’s residence in the Milligan Place. J. Newton Fullenwider was the nephew of Harriet Milligan and he and his wife, Dora, cared for their Aunt Harriet during her declining years, following the death of her husband, Joseph Milligan, a prominent Crawfordsville businessman and generous supporter of Wabash College.

As a valued member of the US Postal Service in Crawfordsville for more than 25 years, Frank is well remembered for the friendships he maintained and the pride he took in the Postal Service. His cousins remember Frank’s passion for Indiana basketball and his encyclopedic memory for names, dates and important events in the family’s history.

Frank and his family were devoted members of Harbor Nazarene Church in Crawfordsville.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at Harbor Nazarene Church, 2950 S. US 231 Crawfordsville. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery Grant Ave with military rites provided by Byron Cox Post 72 Honor Guard.
