Gail M. Cope, 78, went onto her “forever home” in glorious Heaven on Feb. 25, 2022. She took her last earthly breath at home in Port St Lucie, Florida, with her husband, children, friends and family by her side.

Living most of her life in Florida, where she met and married Paul in 1963, they later moved their family to Crawfordsville to be closer to Paul’s family and allow their children the opportunity to grow up in a small close-knit community. They returned to Fort Lauderdale, Florida after seven years, where Gail continued her gift of service and loving people; later retiring from Publix, and then moved to Port St. Lucie, where Gail and Paul happily resided for the past 17 years.

Gail’s passions were her family, church, quilting, playing cards, bowling and loving people. Although Gail lived in Florida most of her life, she was never really interested in fishing, but she was absolutely a “Fisher of Men.

Surviving is her husband of 59 years, Paul W. Cope; daughter Deborah Cope Webb (John Webb); sons, Norman Cope and Troy Cope (Jessica Stubsten); five grandchildren, Corey Maxwell (Frankie Maxwell), Caitlyn Belden, Ethan Cope, Ivan Stubsten and Gracie Stubsten; and three great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Maxwell, Charlotte Maxwell and Everett Belden.

Gail also is survived by three sisters, Sylvia Daniel (Nathan Daniel), Carol Carlton (Jim Carlton) and Llew North (Glenn North); brother-in-law Gene Cope (Karen Cope); and sister-in-law Arneata Cope; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Llewellyn and Frances Julia Mansfield and sister Cheryl Coban.

A celebration of life is scheduled 4-7 p.m. April 2 at Gail and Paul’s son and fiancé’s home, Troy Cope and Jess Stubsten, at Jensen Beach, Florida.
