Gallery to feature nationally recognized artist

Posted

The Mary Bishop Memorial Gallery at the Crawfordsville District Public Library will open a new exhibit by the nationally recognized artist Caitlyn Brandt. Her work is on display now through the month of April during the library’s hours of operation.

A limited amount of Brandt’s work will be for sale during the exhibition through the circulation department.

Brandt currently lives and works in her home state of Michigan. She received a bachelor of fine arts in painting from Grand Valley State University. She spent her school’s scheduled vacations furthering her skills by attending Ox-Bow School of Art’s summer programs in Saugatuck, Michigan, and broadening her perspective of culture and nature by traveling across Europe and the United Kingdom.

Brandt is inspired by the solitude and tranquility of natural landscapes, and the ways that the natural world and cultural perspectives, such as politics, gender roles, and climate concerns, intersect.

“Space, whether interior or exterior, shapes how we observe and interact with each other and our surroundings. My paintings are both a visual and mindful puzzle of space,” Brandt said.
