‘Garage sale on wheels’ to benefit Pam’s Promise

Posted

Spring cleaning season is underway, and the community can clean out their closets and pack their cars with items to sell at a “garage sale on wheels” to raise money for Pam’s Promise.

Spots are available for the event, which is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 15 in the Hoosier Heartland State Bank Plaza parking lot on U.S. 231 South. Setup begins at 8 a.m.

Sellers can reserve their spot for $20 and keep the proceeds of what they sell or secure their spot for free and donate their proceeds to the transitional housing organization for women experiencing homelessness.

To register, call executive director Sue Zachary at 765-366-3203 by May 14.

BEST Burgers and Fries will be on site selling donuts from Warehouse Bakery in the morning and burgers and fries at lunchtime.

Pam’s Promise received 33 calls for assistance in the first three months of the year and two clients graduated from the program. Five new clients came into the program, bringing to six the total number of women served.

“Pam’s Promise has been a life changing experience for me,” a client who enrolled in the program in December wrote in the latest newsletter.

The organization recently hired a social service director, Elizabeth Zuk, and has added two new board members.

Amy Cochran, a production scheduler at Nucor Steel and former board member for the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau, joined the board in January. Jeff Korhorn, associate pastor at Harvest Fellowship, came on board in February.
