Gary David Osborn, 78, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Oct. 8, 2021, at St Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born July 25, 1943, to David Leroy and Thelma Woodrow Osborn West. Gary graduated Perrysville High School, Class of 1961. After graduation, he worked in wood working for several years at Marshall Studios in Veedersburg. He then worked as a welder at Hyster Co. in Danville, Illinois, until ill health came along and he retired. Later, he also worked in farming and raising hogs with brother-in-law, Richard Barker.

Gary was a member of the Masonic Lodge 636 Yeddo and received the Past Master’s Degree. He was a 32nd degree Mason Valley of Scottish Rites of Terre Haute. Gary enjoyed mushrooming, fishing and deer hunting early in life with Richard Barker and Dale Barker. He read the Bible faithfully and was a member of the Veedersburg Church of the Nazarene and when it closed then became a member of the Church of God on U.S. 136 in Veedersburg.

He married Margaret Ann Rahm Huffman on Dec. 2, 1972. She passed Jan. 1, 2001.

He is survived by sister Margaret (Richard) Barker, Veedersburg; two brothers, Thomas Gary West (Leigh), St. Petersburg, Florida, and Kenneth West (Gail Gibson) Indianapolis; niece Tammy Smith; nephew Brett Barker (Wanda); daughter-in-law Linda (David) Huffman of Keningston, Ohio; grandchildren, Amber (Adam) Beauf, Michaela and Eric Huffman of Ohio; and great-grandchildren, Destiny Troyer and Addison Long; and sisters-in-law, Anna Rahm and family, Millie Roarks and family and Judy Rahm and family.

He is preceded in death by step-son David Wain Huffman; his parents; step-father Harvey West; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Special friends were Frank and Linda Allen and Millard Cates and daughter Judy Keeling.

Memorials may be given to the Perrysville Fire Department or Veedersburg Church of God.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Virgil Moss officiating. Burial will be at Snoddy’s Coal Creek Cemetery.
