Andria Geigle was recognized as the Montgomery County Employee of the Year.
Geigle, who is the Montgomery County Chief Probation Officer, was awarded a plaque Monday during the regular meeting of the Montgomery County Commissioners.
Geigle has obtained numerous grants to help support the probation department. Her efforts have provided funds to finance her department and also other efforts associated with the probation department.
The employee of the year award is generated by county employees. A committee solicits nominations from all county employees and then selects the winner of the award. There were nine employees nominated this year.
Commissioners re-instated the Cumulated Bridge Tax Rate at $.055 per $100 of assessed valuation. The state allows counties the right to establish the fund up to $.10 per $100.
The rate is the same as last year and state law requires counties to set the rate yearly.
Commissioners, through resolutions, named department heads with contracts. All directors from last year were retained.
Jessica Burget remains the EMA director and Marc Bonwell will continue as the building and zoning administrator. Jacob Lough and Mike Davis also were retained as highway director and mapping director, respectively.
In other business, commissioners:
• Granted permission to close C.R. 200 from State Road 47 for the upcoming Ironman Raceway events. C.R. 200S and C.R. 200W, going east to west, will be closed. C.R. 200W just north of 2735 S. C.R. 200W also will be closed on race days in 2025.
