Geneva Elizabeth (Banta) Chrisman Krug, 102, formerly of Hillsboro and more recently residing in Veedersburg, passed away at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, in the Chase Rehabilitation Center, Logansport, Indiana.

Geneva was born Oct. 31, 1918, at Crawfordsville, the daughter of the late Clarence Grover and Pearl Geneva (Kite) Banta. Geneva grew up in New Richmond, graduating from New Richmond High School in 1936. She later moved to Hillsboro in 1945 and lived there until moving to Veedersburg in 2016.

Geneva formerly worked at J.C. Penney in Crawfordsville. She later worked at Grace Tinsley General Store in the 50’s and then for May Felix at her Laundromat in Hillsboro until her retirement in 1990. She retired so she could babysit with her great-grandchildren.

She was a long-time member of the Hillsboro Christian Church and more recently a member of the Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg. She was a former member of the Fern Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Hillsboro. She enjoyed sewing.

Geneva was first married to Arthur L. Chrisman on Dec. 31, 1938, at Waynetown. Arthur preceded her in death May 12, 1941. She later married Herbert Lee Krug on Aug. 29, 1945, at New Richmond. Herbert preceded her in death Jan. 8, 1981.

Geneva leaves behind daughter Marie Eileene (Tom) Nickle, Veedersburg; son Donald Lee (Diana) Krug, Walton, Indiana; five grandchildren, David (Kathy) Nickle, Chris (Dawn) Nickle, Terri (Tim) Graham, Darren Krug and Dyna (Ryan) Stickford; and seven great-grandchildren, Blake Nickle, Brett Nickle, Jeff (Britney) Nickle, Malynda Graham, Matt Nickle, Dakota (Bracy) Krug and Evan Stickford.

She was preceded in death by brother C.W. Banta.

Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Pastor Garland Pannell will officiate. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. All attendees to the services will be required to wear face masks and social distance.
