Gerald “Jerry” Morrison, 98, of Ladoga passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Lafayette.

He was born May 30, 1922, at Lizton, to the late Gilbert and Lottie (Curry) Morrison. He married Kathryn Louise (Kate) McQueen Morrison on Aug. 27, 1944, at Crawfordsville. She survives.

Jerry was a lifetime farmer. In 1942 he graduated from Ladoga High School. He was a member of the Ladoga Christian Church. He was a past member of Farm Bureau.

He was the oldest member of the Tree Walker Association. Raising registered Treeing Walker Coon dogs was something the entire family was involved with. Jerry was a participant and later a judge of many wild coon hunts, winning many. In 1972 he won the Indiana State Championship. There is an article written in The Treeing Walker Association Yearbook praising his character. It stated, “Jerry Morrison is an icon.”

He played baseball and basketball in school. As an adult he played fast pitch softball until the age of 72. Then he played slow pitch softball into his 80’s. He played in Nostalgic Montgomery County Basketball. At the end of the game he made a three point shot.

Jerry loved playing pool which involved schooling many. He also enjoyed ping pong, fishing and hunting. He was a horseshoe tournament winner and a spectator sports fan.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn Louise “Kate” McQueen; children, Peggy (John) Rusk of New Market, Nancy Morrison of Ladoga, Tony (Brenda) Morrison of Salem, Virginia, Sherry (Kent) Reynolds of Crawfordsville and Tim (Lori) Morrison of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, JT, Heather, Tyler, Matthew, Evan, Haley, Mallory and Shelby; and great-grandchildren, Kyra, Lexi, Hannah, Madeline, Erin, Tatiana and Kylo.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Donald Morrison, Dorman Morrison and Harold Morrison.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3 at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington St., Ladoga. Burial will take place in Ladoga Cemetery immediately following the service. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Social distancing and limited number in attendance is expected to be followed. We do adhere to the mask requirements.
