Myers Dinner Theatre presents Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5, The Musical’

HILLSBORO — Myers Dinner Theatre brings a smash hit to the stage this summer: “9 to 5, The Musical” with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick.

Based on the 1980 film of the same title, this musical comedy directed by TJ Bird, opens on today and will run through July 27.

Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.

Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy — giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?

Starring in this production are MDT newcomers Carolyn Tachoir (as Judy Bernly), Zoe Phillips (as Doralee Rhodes) and Lillian North (as Violet Newstead).

Several MDT alumni are featured in this production including Caleb DeWitt (Joe/ensemble), Benjamin Elliott (Dick Bernly/ensemble), Rebecca Lea Evans (Missy Hart/ensemble), Don Hart (Russell Tinsworthy/ensemble), Misty McGrady (Margaret/ensemble) and Dion Stover (Franklin Hart Jr.)

This high-energy production is brimming with girl power, where three unlikely friends learn that there’s nothing they can’t do — even in a man’s world.
