GIRLS GOLF PREVIEW: Chargers return top-7 players

Posted

Everybody is back for North Montgomery girls’ golf in 2021 and it has the Chargers eyeing success this fall.

“Our biggest strength is returning everyone,” North Montgomery coach Nick Johnson said. “We have solid senior leadership and the underclassmen are showing improvement. We know what we need to improve on, and we have knowledge of the courses we play and how to approach those courses.

Returning golfers for the Chargers include Morgan Swick, Grace Littell, Ella Stultz, Grace Shrader, Rylie Koopman, Maggie Yeager, and Shayna Ratcliff.

Johnson says he hopes to see the biggest improvement in their short game.

“Our biggest weakness right now is our short game,” he said. “This is one area that we are focusing on in practice and hopefully we will show it in our matches.”

Littell qualified for the IHSAA Regional last season as a sophomore and Johnson says that’s the team goal this season.

“Our goal for the season is to perform well through the regular season and hopefully be peaking when conference, county and sectional roll around,” he said.
