Gladys M. Fitzsimmons, 89, of Roachdale went to her Heavenly home Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020.
She was born March 17, 1930, at Roachdale, to the late Claude and Vernie (Wall) Riddle. On April 30, 1948, at New Winchester, she married Eugene “Mike” Fitzsimmons. He passed away in May 2014.
Gladys graduated from New Winchester High School. She was a homemaker, taking care and raising her family. Her number one joy in life was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, watching birds, nature in general and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by so many.
She is survived by her children, Becky (Larry) Nichols, Fort Wayne, Joyce (Will) Northcutt, Pittsboro, Rodney (Cathy) Fitzsimmons, Danville, and Gary (Rebecca) Fitzsimmons, Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Berlie Riddle, Brownsburg, and Loren “Bud” (Hazel) Riddle, Maplewood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son Kent; daughter Cathy; two grandsons, Jeremy Jamison and Blake Jamison; three brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at Roachdale Baptist Church, 10 N. Lanoke St., Roachdale, with Pastor Steve Rich officiating. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from noon until the time of service Saturday at the church. Servies & Morgan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
