GOLF PREVIEW: Upperclassmen to lead Mustangs

Posted

Fountain Central has a lot to be excited about for the upcoming boys’ golf season.

The Mustangs return three seniors in Jacob Keeling, Nathan Summers, and Cole Kirkpatrick, and welcome six more players to the team.

“We have three returning seniors that have done a great job of recruiting and being an ambassador to the sport,” Fountain Central coach Brian Turner said. “They have played many rounds on their own since our last season and have brought five new upperclassmen to the team. These three bring leadership, experience and a great attitude to lead this team.”

The Mustangs welcome seniors Cody Linville, Brent Myers, and Matt York, along with two juniors Carter Merryman and Seth Martin. Freshman Wesley Jackson will also be competing for the final varsity spot.

“Our strength is with the leadership and experience with my upperclassmen,” Turner said. “Our weakness is inexperience with the rest of the team. Only three members of the team have played in a match. Learning how to handle the pressures of a golf match will be half the battle.”

Fountain Central opens the season at the Clinton Central Invite on April 10.
