Joyce Grimble of Waynetown is seeking the Republican nomination for District 1 of the Montgomery County Council.

Grimble taught family and consumer sciences locally at the high school level before teaching in Lafayette and becoming a guidance counselor, retiring as Director of Guidance at West Lafayette Jr.-Sr. High School.

She has been involved in many different organizations in Montgomery County, having served as president of the Montgomery County Community Foundation, Montgomery County Extension Board and Council and a board member of MUFFY. Currently, she is active with the Waynetown United Methodist Church, Women’s Legacy Fund, Montgomery County Retired Teachers and 4-H, as a judge for various counties and the state fair. She was appointed to the CFO study committee for Montgomery County.

Grimble is a graduate of Purdue University and has held leadership positions on several alumni boards, including the Purdue Council on Agricultural Research, Extension and Teaching.

“It is a tremendous feeling to have an opportunity to serve Montgomery County as a member of the county council and move forward initiatives that will benefit our citizens,” Grimble said. “As a school educator and guidance director, I utilized teamwork, cooperative planning and open lines of communication — skills crucial for fair and effective government. The current county administration has taken positive steps to secure opportunities that will bring incremental growth to our area. Future planning must be guided by responsible budget considerations and a focus on additional employment and housing options. We are Stronger Working Together and can empower our community for new possibilities.”

Grimble and her husband Jack have two children, Jana and Justin, and three grandsons. For campaign updates, visit www.tinyurl.com/GrimbleforCountyCouncil.
