Haile to depart United Way in Montgomery County

Posted

United Way in Montgomery County announces the departure of Gina Haile, who has led the organization since November 2020. Haile will transition to a new role as Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County, bringing her extensive experience and passion for youth development to a new mission.

Haile joined the organization under its previous identity, Montgomery County United Fund, fondly known as MUFFY, during a challenging time of organizational setbacks and declining community support. Under the direction of the local board, Montgomery County United Fund merged with United Way of Greater Lafayette in July 2021 to form United Way in Montgomery County. This change marked a turning point for the organization.

“Gina’s leadership has been an incredible asset to Montgomery County and to United Way. Her ability to rebuild trust, strengthen partnerships, and grow community support has truly transformed the work we do,” said Michele Hunley, Montgomery County representative on the United Way of Greater Lafayette Board of Directors and member of the local advisory board. “As a past campaign chair, I’ve seen firsthand her dedication to supporting our partner agencies and improving the lives of people in our community. While we are sad to see her go, we know she will bring the same passion and commitment to her new role at the Boys & Girls Club. We wish her all the best in this next chapter.”

Through her dedication and strategic vision, she reinvigorated community support and achieved a remarkable 30% increase in the fundraising campaign, ensuring vital resources for our local nonprofits and the individuals they serve. Additionally, Haile’s leadership has allowed for the expansion and development of key United Way programs such as:

• Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), which offers free tax preparation to households making less than $78,000.

• Kindergarten Countdown Camp, which provides incoming kindergartners with little to no preschool experience, a free high-quality program to help prepare them for kindergarten.

• Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was introduced in Spring 2024 and has seen resounding success in getting age-appropriate books to children in Montgomery County.

Prior to her time at United Way, Haile held positions at Wabash College and Purdue University, where she developed expertise in managing large-scale programs, cultivating strategic partnerships, grant-making, and engaging diverse stakeholders. Her career also includes a pivotal role at UrbanPromise Ministries, where she expanded youth programs and honed her skills in nonprofit management and fundraising.

“Serving as the Director for United Way in Montgomery County has been an honor,” Haile said. “Together with the local advisory board, dedicated volunteers, and generous supporters, we’ve made significant strides in creating opportunities for Montgomery County residents to thrive. I look forward to continuing this important work at the Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County.”

At the Boys & Girls Club, Haile will focus on providing a safe, positive environment for youth, fostering relationships with caring professionals, and implementing programs that promote character development and life-enhancing opportunities. The Boys & Girls Club is dedicated to inclusivity and ensuring that all children and teens — regardless of background — can achieve their full potential.

“We are incredibly excited to have Gina as our new CEO. She is a dedicated and compassionate leader who has years of experience in the world of community-serving non-profits,” Bobby Horton, Board President of Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County shared. “We have appreciated so much her work with the United Way and are thrilled that she is joining the Boys & Girls Club movement as we continue to provide a safe and enriching experience for Montgomery County kids.”

United Way of Greater Lafayette extends its gratitude to Haile for her unwavering commitment and outstanding contributions to the Montgomery County community. Her legacy of growth and impact will continue to inspire the work of the organization as it moves forward.
